New Hampshire plays an influential role in AGS elections, first as the location of the first primary of the presidential election season and then as a swing state in the general election.

New Hampshire is known for its libertarian-leaning "small government" philosophy- it has neither a sales nor income tax, and is the only state not to mandate kindergarten- and its tradition of citizen participation in the electoral process. Voter turnout is usually high and citizens expect the chance to meet and question presidential contenders.

Primary Elections

Voters in the first-in-the-nation presidential primary has often overlooked the presumed frontrunner to support a candidate more in line with its particular values, or to support a maverick or underdog candidate. During the first AGS election, John Cole, who had been running fourth in many other contests, narrowly beat out three other Democrats to win the primary, while Keith Wood? led the Republican field. In the second election, Nation Hahn? won the Democratic primary, while President Adam Yoshida narrowly won the primary, but only with 41.9% of the vote, landing a tremendous blow to his campaign. Yoshida narrowly won the primary again in the third election over Joseph Cienciolo of Ohio, while Democrat Mike Adams used his first-place finish to catapult himself to frontrunner status.

General Elections

New Hampshire is one of only a handful of "swing states" that are hotly contested during presidential elections. It was the only New England state Greg Williams won during his successful presidential bid, but the state went for Nation Hahn over President Yoshida. It is expected to be evenly split during the third election, and its four electoral votes may play an important role in what is expected to be a close election.

Congress

In Congress, New Hampshire has two congressional districts. The first district is currently represented by Brady Carlson
